The full time RV lifestyle is a dream for a lot of people, but not everyone is built for this lifestyle. The RV lifestyle can be invigorating with the freedom of traveling the open roads and living life on your schedule. You get to see some of the amazing places that the RV lifestyle offers. But you also need to be ready for the unexpected bumps in the road. As I always say “Failure to prepare is preparing for failure” By this I mean be as prepared as you possibly can be. You will still run into an unexpected issue or two. By having a good preparation plan it help in those times of when life happens.
I’ve been a full time work camper for 6 years and I have my share of nightmare scenarios on one hand but there are the experienced full timers that makes my job even nicer then it is and it’s really nice already.
For example just the other day an older couple pulls up one gets out and heads straight to the office to check in and the other is already unhook their tow vehicle. I escort them to their site which is a back in site. The wife parked the Jeep and started guiding her husband in which is what I am supposed to do, and just like that they were in and setting up like a well oiled machine. Team work and the love of traveling the open roads helps when your an experienced full timer.
And then you have the nightmare weekenders that have a 43 foot motor home and doesn’t pay attention to you when escorting them to their site. Which makes for an interesting situation, I’ve seen some people hitting tables and running over fire pits and of course running over our landscaping board and putting huge ruts in our grass, I guess it’s just job security. But I have seen my share of couples that don’t have a system and that causes some issues and arguments. That’s when I get on my golf cart and head to the next escort.
My best advice would be to stay patient with each other and follow the guys instructions that escorts 1,000’s of RVs a season and you’ll be at your site in no time. So would this be a lifestyle choice for you?
